One that knows our hearts

In the Old Testament, a woman named Hannah was carrying deep pain, sorrow, and suffering in her heart. It seemed that no one could truly understand her suffering let alone solve the problem. (1 Samuel 1)

Have you ever felt that way? Life is not always easy. Sometimes we go through pain and suffering that are too much for us to carry alone. At times like that, we want to talk to someone and ask for help. But it can be hard to find someone who can truly understand us, carry our burdens with us, and solve our problems.

Hannah was in this situation too. Her enemy, Peninnah, hated her. Even though Hannah was already suffering, Peninnah looked down on her and made her suffer even more. Hannah’s husband loved her, but even he could not understand why she was suffering so much. And when Hannah was praying to God at the temple, the priest Eli saw only what she looked like from the outside. He misunderstood her and thought she was drunk.

No human being could save Hannah or help her. But God, who created us and understands our weaknesses and pain, heard Hannah’s prayer. He gave her peace instead of her heavy burden. And in time, He also gave her an answer to her troubles.

When we face difficulties and trials in life, there is someone who can help us and bring a solution to our problems. Even while we are waiting for the answer, He stays with us, carries our burdens, and gives us strength.

This person is Jesus Christ—our Savior and our Helper.
